Every dataset on this site is published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). Use it, change it, build a business on it, sell what you build. The only condition is credit.

Why these records are ours to pass on
We did not create these records. Cities, counties, the state and federal statistical agencies did, and they publish them. What we made is the join — and the join is what we are licensing to you.

Overture Maps Foundation
Published by its author under an open data licence that expressly permits redistribution, including commercially, with attribution — so we may grant downstream what CC BY 4.0 promises. The specific licence and the attribution it requires ship in the slice's own `source` block.
The two we do not publish
Both of these are built, both are analysed, and neither ships as a file. They are derived from Google, and the licence above grants a commercial redistribution right we do not hold over another company's data. The findings stay public; the rows do not leave.

The licence registers answer the same question from each city's licensing office of record — see the `licences` slice, which resolves 10.85% of commercial sites against this layer's 0.79%. |

Result titles, domains and page-one positions from Google Search. Same reason: these are Google's results, and republishing them under a licence that permits commercial redistribution is not ours to do. |
Minnesota Secretary of State bulk business filings are held back on the same principle and have never entered an export — that licence is non-commercial.
